Common Letters to Numbers

To create an easy cipher for children, replace just the vowels (A, E, I, O, U) with numbers.

Then the message A CHRISTMAS STORY would read 1 CHR3STM1S ST4RY. As you can see, it’s very easy to decode.

To make it more difficult, code some or all of the most common English letters (E, A, R, I, O, T, N, S, L) with numbers 1 through 9. Assign the numbers alphabetically to make it easier (1 CH7389M18 8967Y), or randomly to make it more difficult. Assigning the numbers randomly might make it so difficult it would be impossible or very time-consuming to decode without a key, so consider providing a whole or at least partial key.
